In this very refined statuette, Khenti-Kheti is sitting on a cube-shaped seat with an inscription on the side that defines him as “the chancellor of the king of Lower Egypt, the sole friend, the great superintendent Khenti-Kheti.” We know next to nothing about him, though three other monuments in other museums have been attributed to him, all of them from his chapel/cenotaph in the northern part of Abydos.

FUNERARY RELIEFS
Nearly all the reliefs in the Barracco Museum’s collection belong to the funerary sphere.
They come from a type of tomb, the mastaba (from the Arabic word for bench), which was especially characteristic of Old Kingdom necropolises.
